GemArts presents Reflections of Newcastle, a photography exhibition showcasing the work of seven young people from diverse backgrounds, aged 16-25. During this project the young people participated in ten weeks of photography workshops, working alongside regional photographer Harinder Kaur.
Many of these young people had not used a camera before, so the project allowed them to develop new digital photography skills, as well as overcoming initial inhibitions and gaining confidence in the medium. Taking part in photography walks around Newcastles city centre and Quayside, the participants focused on their own personal response to what they discovered. The result is a beautiful photography exhibition of their work, exploring the sights and reflections of the city they now live in.
This project was delivered by GemArts in partnership with JET North and Bridging the Gap, funded by Newcastle City Councils Newcastle Fund.
