Shri’s Just a Vibration

GemArts Masala Festival - A weeklong festival celebrating a mix and blend of the finest South Asian Arts and Culture

Just A Vibration brings together two distinctly diverse musical forms: Indian classical music and the traditional brass band.  The brainchild of composer / producer / musician Shri Sriram, this exciting collaboration creates a new crossover musical vocabulary with its eloquent blend of intricate Indian melodies on Shri Sriram’s handcrafted bass guitar with the booming magnificence of the brass band. Arranged by saxophone and bassclarinet legend Ben Castle, the project was developed and recorded with conductor Morgan Griffiths and the Hammonds Saltaire band.

This performance at Sage Gateshead, as part of GemArts Masala Festival, features the great NASUWT Riverside Band, the highly accomplished Jasdeep Singh Degun on sitar, powerhouse drummer Marc Layton-Bennett and a guest appearance from Newcastle-based singer songwriter, Kathryn Williams.
