A vibrant and highly individual pianist and composer, Zoe Rahman’s style is deeply rooted in jazz yet it reflects her classical background, British / Bengali heritage and her very broad musical taste.
Known for her powerful technique, wide-ranging imagination and exuberant performance, she has become a highly sought-after musician, working most recently with the likes of George Mraz, Courtney Pine and Jerry Dammers’ Spatial AKA Orchestra.

Zoe’s solo album showcased the depth and breadth of her musical imagination, featuring new compositions alongside tracks by Duke Ellington, Jessica Williams, Rabindranath Tagore, as well as solo renditions of some of Zoe’s back catalogue.

A former MOBO Award winner, Mercury Prize nominee, Jazz FM Award nominee and British Jazz Award winner, Zoe has established herself as a unique presence in the British music industry. This is a rare opportunity to hear one of the UK’s most gifted jazz pianists in an intimate solo piano setting.

“Always exciting, playful, muscular and a tiny bit unhinged, that’s what I love about Zoe Rahman”
Jamie Cullum (BBC Radio 2)

This concert is presented by GemArts with Jazz North East and The Literary and Philosophical Society in association with Newcastle Festival of Jazz and Improvised Music and comes with support from Performing Rights Society Foundation and Arts Council England.
