School workshop- Play and Paper

Play and paper

Work with a visual artist to explore the uses of paper in Chinese culture and celebrations

From making paper by hand to using it in parade art- paper holds a special place in Chinese cultural celebrations and artwork. Explore specialist skills, materials and tools to get inspired and start making in the classroom.

Play and Paper is a great workshop to help students understand Chinese New Year but can be applied to any creative or inclusive project. Students will learn about the culture of origami to create a display inspired by the Chinese zodiac- tailored to different abilities this workshop can be full of games like racing paper frogs or focus on the geometry and precision that goes into the artform.

Workshops can be delivered as a one-off taster or developed into a longer project.

These  workshops can support celebrations of Chinese New Year, International days or art projects
Check out our online origami workshops for quick tips:

A typical Play and Paper workshop will last for up to 1.5 hours for each group, can include up to 30 students per session and can incorporate other curriculum topics being studied.
