Schools
GemArts has over 17 years experience working with schools and community groups across the North East, providing educational and enjoyable learning experiences. Our participatory programme aims to promote creative learning and a greater understanding of people and their respective cultures. Our projects have featured in The Chronicle's Excellence in Education supplement, and we recently received an Excellence in Equality and Diversity award for our We Stand Together anti hate crime secondary school project.
Each year GemArts works with schools across the North East giving thousands of pupils the opportunity to take part in; visual arts, Chinese dance, African drumming, storytelling, singing, lyric writing and much more. We have a successful track record of collaborative work with schools, colleges and in alternative educational settings, programming arts projects as part of cultural diversity weeks, to enrich curriculum activity around internationalism and citizenship, and offering pupils and teachers the opportunity to learn something new and raise cultural awareness.
"We have worked in partnership with GemArts for 12 years to enhance our creative curriculum. Our recent Outstanding Ofsted, inspectors said that we provide an exciting, stimulating and relevant creative environment where children can develop basic skills and become increasingly responsible citizens. Without the help of GemArts, our children would not receive the wealth and breadth of the experiences they need to enrich their learning. We have been able to put children forward for Arts Award, be involved in an acclaimed Jazz Festival and Masala Festival and work with a wide range of artists from different cultures. They have helped us to achieve our Green Flag International Award and Gold Arts Mark status"

"Gem Arts is a fantastic company. Their knowledge of various artists and artforms has enabled us to offer our children at Roman Road Primary time to work with an outstanding range of experts. These enjoyable experiences have developed their creativity and learning across the curriculum, as well as giving them an understanding of many world cultures…..and they have enabled us to achieve our Gold Artsmark Award and our second International Green Flag Award for Eco".
